COWBOYS HELP

Going to see my favorite band (tied with a few others as fav) at Cowboys this Friday.

I have never been to see a concert at Cowboys.  I did here DNC would start around 11:30.  We do have a reserve table.

Is there anything else we should know to help us enjoy the show?

How is the volume level?  Is it way too loud, like at the Roxy, or usally good at cowboys?

Is food available?

What time can we sit at the reserved table?

Thanks for any help!

Re: COWBOYS HELP

If you have a reserved table, it should not be too loud. When I saw them there several months ago, we had a table to the left of the stage and right on the stage railing......Awesome view.
Be prepared for someone to be squatting in your table.....They were in ours for sure but moved along.
Lots of folks at the Cowboys shows are not there for any particular reason other than the party atmosphere and the line dancing.
There are some DnC fans for sure though.
Have fun.

Re: COWBOYS HELP

Thanks GeoffYoung for the help!

brockinstring, I called Cowboys and they said about 11:00 to 11:30 would be the start time for DNC.  I also checked on this site and someone posted that the last time DNC played at Cowboys the start time was 11:35.

Mike: I am thinking 10:30, but it could be closer to 11. Last July, it was AFTER 11 before they took the stage & they played until almost 2am. Call Cowboys sometime tomorrow after 8pm: 770-426-5006 They might be able to tell you something.

GREAT PEACEMAKER: The volume level is fine, in my opinion. Bring some earplugs just in case, but I see no reason for them. I LIKE IT LOUD! There is NO food available. Eat before you make the drive. I believe you should be able to take your seats at 8. The opening act: http://www.cowboysatl.com/dev/?the-band  *should* start playing around 9. I truly believe DNC will take the stage around 10:30ish (instead of 11:30) & probably play til around 1am (maybe later). Also, if you ever go to Cowboys again for another concert, this is my suggestion: Do not buy a reserved seat table unless you just absolutely have to be close to the stage. There are PLENTY of other unreserved tables that you can sit at with just a $10 general admission ticket. Once DNC takes the stage, I am STANDING. http://www.cowboysatl.com

Re: COWBOYS HELP

I just turned 40 Robert and have the sleeping habits of 90 year old man. I just have a hard time staying up past 9pm. I'll try and swing it after a long day of fishing tomorrow.

Priorities are out of whack. I'm assuming it will be awhile before they come around Atl again?

Re: COWBOYS HELP

Here’s a local boy’s insight for you out of towners:

Regarding food: you have literally every choice imaginable within 5 minutes of Cowboys. Most everybody will be coming via I-75. If you’re traveling north from the ATL area, you can get off at exit 269 (Barrett Parkway) and everything under the sun is there food-wise, but it’s gonna be very congested too. If you’re traveling south towards ATL on 75, you’d exit at Chastain (exit 271) and anything that’s not on Barrett is on Chastain. There’s also a Hooters that actually shares the parking lot with Cowboys, FYI.

Regarding volume, I’ll say this. I have seen DNC at Cowboys at least twice that I can remember. The first time I remember thinking it should be louder than it was. The 2nd time (last fall), I sat at reserve tables pretty close to the stage and it was one of the loudest DNC shows I’ve ever sat through. Fortunately I had ear plugs, but my friend did not and complained of the volume. It was so loud that Tim’s bass notes were actually overloading the speaker over our head and we heard crackle the entire time (or it was perhaps just blown to begin with).

So in my experience it’s been a crap shoot at Cowboys. By the way, the same friend just drove to AL to hear the guys last weekend specifically BECAUSE she hated the sound at Cowboys last time.

Re: COWBOYS HELP

Good news:

That was as good a sounding DNC concert I have seen.  The volume was just about perfect.  The band was tight of course.  Kevn's voice sounded so good.  The last time I saw DNC was at The Roxy a few years ago when Kevn was having his throat problem.  If I remember correctly from forum info, I think it was before he even knew what was wrong.  Of course, later he got that fixed.  Tonight was the first I had heard him live since then.  It was awesome.  I was worried about how the concert was going to be in Cowboys.  Besides the place being somewhat trashed out, the concert was very good though!

Yea, we should have not got reserved tables, because the sound there was nothing compared to being in front of the stage.  I stayed by the reserved table for 1/2 of the first song and then went in front of the stage.  So much better!!

Thanks again for the help from everyone.

I should of made plans to meet a couple of you to say hey and to put a face with the name here.  Maybe next time.

Does the guy that runs the t-shirt table post on here?

He does. His board name is mongoose_teddy.

I am glad to read that you had a wonderful time in FRONT of the stage. smile At least now you know to not waste your money on a reserved table. You probably saw me at the merchandise table after the show. I was having conversations with fellow fans. Harold & Chris are the only 2 names that I remember right now. Harold is a huge vinyl collector. I believe (not sure) I may have talked him into getting GABF on vinyl simply because of the 3 bonus songs. Chris wished that he just had more money so that he could buy more merchandise. I was the goofy looking 6'3" fan with short brown hair wearing a "GABF Fall Tour 2009" gray shirt & in case you have not figured it out by now, my real name is Robert. Will you please introduce yourself to the rest of the board? Also, how far was your drive to Cowboy's? Welcome to the official Drivin' N' Cryin' message board. Don't be a stranger. smile
